Generally set up as a project aimed at redesigning the Christmas/New Year’s tree and accompanying holiday props, Christmas Tree Superstore gave authors the choice whether to approach the topic critically or affirmatively, whether to rely on secular or religious traditions, and whether to embrace the festive atmosphere of giving, hedonism and obsessive consumption or deconstruct it entirely, simultaneously enticing concepts that utilize designer methodology in order to explicitly communicate specific messages and concepts that arefocused on creating products that might come to life on the market.

We wanted to test the boundaries to which an unpretentious, simple and thematically limited project can change its shape, as well as the limits to which its conventional visual vocabulary can expand. We also wanted to see how the authors would use their interpretations to articulate their attitudes on ecology, consumption, sustainability and society in general, and whether these attitudes would find their shape in an attractive, desirable series of products. With every edition of our exhibition, we slowly continue to build an unusual and valuable collection of product designs.

Our wish is that the exhibited designs motivate your own creativity, and we are excited about each and every one design that finds a place in your home. Welcome to Bor s nama — Christmas Tree Superstore 2011 .
